2006 SCCPI Excellence in Pain Management Awardee

David Campisi, MD
TrinityCare Hospice ~ Cerritos Team

Dr. Campisi graduated from UCLA School of Medicine in 1972 and focused on Internal Medicine and Intensive Care.  Recognizing the need for excellence in pain management at end-of-life, Dr. Campisi became the founding Medical Director for Trinity Care Hospice in 1984.  Since that time he has dedicated countless hours to assisting patients on the Trinity Care Hospice program.  He was the only hospice physician for the entire program so he consulted on each and every patient’s plan of care.  Presently he is part of a team of medical Directors for the organization. He is the primary medical director for the TCH Cerritos Team and routinely consults with a team of clinicians who manage 80 -100 patients at any given time.  Dr. Campisi’s teaching technique is one of his most appreciated skills- he is always collaborative in his approach.  A hospice physician’s work is never just “during business hours”, pain can occur at any time.  His life has been a “life interrupted” for the past 28 years, taking call and offering care and expertise at all hours of the day and night.  We are truly honored to recognize Dr. Campisi for his tireless efforts to improve the care of his dying patients and their families.  Congratulations Dr. Campisi and thank you for your care, leadership and dedication to our patients.
