The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice

This is the first time we have awarded a hotline site but it is very special.  This is a grant-funded hotline that provides free access for healthcare professionals seeking expertise and educational resources related to palliative care and complex symptom management.  Callers speak directly to expert clinicians at no charge.  It is California based but reaches national needs.   It is part of The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice.   This group meets a really important need for health care providers who otherwise know no one else to call for hard to manage patient’s pain and palliative care needs.  Did you know there are 38 million Californians and only 400 Board-certified palliative medicine physicians in our state?  The bottom line is patients are benefiting from improved clinical practice of their physicians because they were able to get the information they needed from palliative pain experts to help them manage their patients’ difficult symptoms.  Everyone wins with this service.  Congratulations for the work you do.  This is a priceless service that allows patients to receive the care they need without leaving their current health care provider.  We are really excited to be able to recognize the work you do Pal-Med Connect.
