Palliative Care Team at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

The Palliative Care Team at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital began in 2005 and has developed into an outstanding leader in hospital palliative care teams. This team is an exceptional example of interdisciplinary teamwork. The team not only sees patients in the hospital, but also holds weekly clinics for pain management at the Santa Barbara Cancer Center, holds twice-yearly End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) courses, works with both area hospices, and has developed an impressive collaboration with oncologists throughout Santa Barbara in partnering to meet the pain management needs of cancer patients. Cottage’s palliative care team includes four physicians: Drs. Dennis Baker, Mike Bordofsky, Michael Kearney and
Eric Trautwein, the nurse manager Susan White, nurses are Susan Gibson, Julie Hirsch and Lori Mendez
social worker Sherie Davis and Chaplain Clay Napier. We are proud to present a SCCPI group award for
