Identify organizations than can work with SCCPI in eliminating regulatory barriers

 

 

-          Added organizational links to Last Acts, AACPI liaisons to SCCPI Board

-          SCCPI led large group on proposed legislation each year & consistently established new contacts

-          Assemblywoman Helen Thomson was keynote speaker at Gala in 2001

-          SCCPI continued to serve as a resource for legislators on various topics related to cancer pain management

-          SCCPI continued to disseminate educational materials and information on regulatory barriers

-          Continued fortifying relationships with legislators and regulators

-          Follow-up to regional conferences of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) in their stated goal(s) to address the issue of pain management in 2003

-          SCCPI collaborated with NCPI and For Grace in proclaiming September 2005 as Pain Awareness Month

-          Enhanced working relationships with other non-profit organizations to reintroduce triplicate bill SB 151 which became effective in 2003

-          Facilitate conference calls and strategic planning as follow- up to priorities, legislative developments, and law enforcement actions on triplicates and CURES

-          SCCPI has voiced support for state legislation regarding mandatory education

-          SCCPI worked collaboratively for legislation that requires pain management and EOL in medical schools (1999 and finalized in 2000)

-          SCCPI was main supporter of legislation for mandatory CME on pain education (AB487) 2002

-          SCCPI sponsored educational programs to meet the requirement of AB487

-          SCCPI testified before the Medical Board of California (MBC) regarding follow-up to AB487 in 2002
