DEAR SCCPI MEMBERS, I am pleased that we have included the updated 2008 SCCPI Cancer Pain Management Reference Card with this edition. Every time we update, there is always more to add, but our version still folds to fit in your pocket for quick reference. I am particularity pleased with the addition #12 under Pain Management Principles, “Remember to educate your patients about pain medications.” It can be a challenging to find the time, but it can help your patient know how to avoid unnecessary side effects, what to report and clear up misunderstandings about dependence and addiction. SCCPI sells the 2008 Pocket Pain Cards at $1 each in packs of 25, the order form is online and the pocket pain card is downloadable on our website.
While you are at the
SCCPI website take a look at the
Pain
Resource Center. It is a wealth of
information on pain
management references, tools, resources and links.
