The First Annual Women in Pain Conference: Gender Matters offers 5 CME's to clinicians and invites women in pain to participate. The conference will be a springboard to help women in pain and clinicians find a common language to address the disparities in pain treatment for women. SCCPI has a tradition of developing educational initiatives, like the Pain Resource Nurse (PRN) Course that provide top notch education in pain management to healthcare professionals. SCCPI is reaching out to healthcare consumers as well as clinicians. This conference offers a stimulating mix of professional presentations, dramatization and breakouts. It’s an opportunity for those is pain to learn about the practice of pain management, drugs, complementary therapies and opportunities for clinicians and consumers to learn more about alternative approaches to manage the daily challenge of living with pain. The advocacy issues that shape the debate around pain in this country will be presented and focus on the factors behind disparities in pain treatment for women.
