Southern California Cancer Pain Initiative 

Mission Statement:
     To Promote Optimum Pain Relief for all People with Cancer

Founded in 1993, the Southern California Cancer Pain Initiative (SCCPI) is  a nonprofit 
 volunteer  interdisciplinary organization made up of physicians,  nurses, pharmacists, social 
 workers and many other  professionals  dedicated to the relief  of cancer pain. 
  
SCCPI works  closely with other  professional and regulatory  agencies to remove barriers to
optimum  pain relief.

The SCCPI central office is located in the Los Angeles region with  additional regions located in
San Diego, Inland Empire, Orange  and  Ventura Counties.

SCCPI includes approximately 3,000 individual members and three active committees:

• Non-Malignant Pain Task Force to help promote awareness of long term chronic pain
   sufferers.
  Professional Education to improve knowledge of health care professionals involved in
  cancer pain  management.

• Regulatory Affairs to identify and overcome regulatory barriers  in pain management
